When it's down to the law YOU have two choices:

lie down and take it... or... fight back on their own terms

A personal view

  • Man's laws are not God's laws
  • If you break the law, be ready to accept the consequences
  • Laws are society's tool to get a balance between freedoms and responsibilities by regulating behavior
  • Laws are arbitary. A crime here may be legal in the next state
  • What's legal today could be a crime tomorrow
  • Law enforcement is patchy and never approaches 100%
  • People make mistakes
  • Verdicts are influenced by more than just the facts; that's what lawyers get paid for
  • Speed limits are arbitary. The risk associated with a given speed varies with the weather, the traffic, the driver, the time of day, the state of the road and other factors
  • Driving below the limit in one situation can be more dangerous than going twice the limit in another
  • Bikers are very aware of how vunerable they are. Hitting a rabbit leaned over on a bike can be more dangerous than hitting a semi trailer in a SUV
  • Very few bikers are suicidal or looking to spend months in hospital
  • Speeding bikes are rarely anything like as dangerous as people say
  • Don't bother saying any of this to the judge!

Mark Charlwood

If you believe that all the law applying to you as a biker

  • is 100% fair
  • is enforced the same for everybody
  • is handled without mistakes
  • is applied the same every time
  • can never be challenged
  • should be obeyed absolutely at all times

THEN YOU DONT NEED THIS!

If you accept that we don't live in a perfect world and that you are as entitled to protect your own interests as much as the next person, it might just help:

  • Avoid getting a ticket even if you don't always stay within the limit

  • You need the right equipment and the right techniques. Either one on its own won't work

  • If you do get stuck with a ticket, get out of it the same way as an off duty cop

  • Know what to say, know what to do. Don't trust information from out of State or another country - the law and procedures vary

  • Threatened with a heavyweight court action?

  • Suffered a major loss of health, earnings or assets?

  • You need a lawyer! Don't pick one out of Yellow Pages... get a specialist and WIN
